The UNIVERSAM is an international art fair created by artists. Russian as well as foreign artist collectives, associations, and artist-run galleries will participate. The fair was organized with the support of Supermarket art fair, Stockholm, Sweden. UNIVERSAM means to become a platform for artists to meet, communicate, and exhibit their works. The program will include lectures, roundtables, concerts, etc. Each participating group will receive an exhibition booth of no less than 15 square meters, a spread in the catalogue, and an announcement on UNIVERSAM’s website. The UNIVERSAM art fair will take place in the very center of Moscow on the territory of the publishing house Izvestiya, a classical constructivist building from the 1920s, located on Pushkin Square. Izvestiya’s large premises, including a conference hall, a stage, and a buffet, have all been made available to UNIVERSAM.
Applications for participation in UNIVERSAM will be considered by a council of experts. Similar projects exist all over the world. The Supermarket art fair in Stockholm, for example, takes place annually. This past year, Moscow’s ABC gallery was a participant. Examples of how it works:
